Fun in the Sun ~ The Bucket Hat
Bucket Hat made from Recycled Plastic Bottles
SPF and UPF mean different things but both keep your skin protected from the sun. Sunlight has rays of ultraviolet radiations. Excessive exposure to the Ultraviolet radiation rays leads to sunburn, aging, and skin cancer.
UPF means “Ultraviolet Protective Factor” this indicates how much of the sun’s Ultraviolet Protection radiation penetrates a fabric to the skin. UPF measures the amount of UV radiation that penetrates a fabric to the skin.
SPF means “Sun Protection Factor” this measures the amount of time it takes for the sun to redden the skin.
The bucket hat is UPF +50. A fabric with a rating of 50 will allow only 1/50th of the sun’s UV rays to pass through. This means the fabric will reduce your skin’s UV radiation exposure significantly because only 2% of the UV rays will get through to the skin and it blocks UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays penetrates deep into the dermis. UVB rays burns the superficial layers of the skin. Recycled bottles are collected washed and chopped into bottle flakes. The bottle flakes are melted and formed into clothes. Recycled fiber chips are extruded from the fiber. The bucket hat protects babies from the harsh rays of the sun today and helps create a better tomorrow for our babies and out planet.
